Ukemi: The Art of Falling

Premiere 2 May 2025 - Circusstad Festival

Ukemi: The Art of Falling is a parkour and circus performance of 28 minutes, utilising a 5x3m parkour structure, to be performed outdoors at festivals, for schools and events.

It is an ode to the fall, aiming to reframe dealing with risk as a wonderful experience when done in the right way. It will show how it is an art that can be practiced. How to mentally and physically prepare for risky endeavours, how to fall safely, how to accept and learn from failure and how to support, help and encourage each other all throughout - essentially creating a healthy culture around risk.

The show plays a lot with expectation and moves between humour, tension and personal vulnerabilities. The show is especially aimed at ages 12-18 because I see a need for and want to encourage this process to them, to use for the rest of their lives, but will be accessible for all ages.

A first LAB week was done in the space of Rush World West 10-14th of February

The rehearsals are all happening in Rush World West and the structure is designed and built by Onur and Ilhami Eren, owners of Rush World.
