This class will go into the basic movements of my personal movement vocabulary and show you how you can step by step approach them yourself given your current physical skills.
I define floorwork as comprised of movement utilising all parts of the body as potential contact points with the floor.
Soft acrobatics is mainly based off of using your arms to support yourself in various acrobatic inversions, twists and turns. As compared to classical tumbling you do not need much jumping power or explosivity to do soft acrobatics, as well as being less risky to learn making soft acrobatics much more accessible for most people.
The class is for anyone who has some sort of background with a dance or acrobatics-related practice. For example: Circus, Breakdance, Capoeira, Ido Portal method, contemporary dance, gymnastics etc. You do not need to be an advanced practitioner.
At the end of the class we will put some of the skills and movements together in a sequence to work on connections, dynamics and movement awareness.
I intend to start teaching classes regularly in Rotterdam when it does not conflict with my performing work, and this would be the first class in a series of many!
If you are curious as to what exactly my style and vocabulary looks like, take a peek at the video below!
